Last Friday, I received my bonus 8 coffee table-style books on photography from NYIP and another 1 booklet of postcards on photographs by Ansel Adams. Then just yesterday, I received my Unit 1 tutorial package… yippee! In this 1st unit, I’ll be learning the basics: Eye Of The Photographer, Camera & Lens and How To Use Your camera. After studying this Unit, I’m required to submit some photo projects based on the school’s requirements for the teachers to review my progress.
Spring Tulip Festival 2007 (Part 2)
•April 9, 2007 • 4 CommentsWe went to the tulip farm again yesterday morning (Easter Sunday), but unfortunately we didn’t manage to catch the launching of the hot air balloons. According to the tulip farm’s website, there were 6 balloons launched at around 7am, so I missed a good photo opps there… too bad! Well, I just have to content with these shots of mine instead:
Welcome Pack
•April 6, 2007 • 2 CommentsYesss! I received the welcome pack from New York Institute of Photography early this week, and the first batch of tutorial materials will come very soon. Can’t wait to jump start my photography learning process!
Spring Tulip Festival 2007 (Part 1)
•March 29, 2007 • 2 CommentsWe visited a tulip farm at Woodburn, Oregon today because the weather was so fabulous. However, we arrived there slightly after noon, and the sun was high and very bright. Took about 70 pictures, but only a couple of it is good. Will definitely go back there again tomorrow for some sunset shots and once more next month when the flowers are in full bloom.
Question: How do I shoot crisp, clear photos under bright sunlight? The photos were taken under this setting:
Handheld, macro mode; ISO 400; f/9; s=1/900 sec
Handheld, auto mode; ISO 400; f/9; s=1/850 sec
Handheld, super macro mode; ISO 400; f/5.6; s=1/450 sec
Winter frost on fall leaves
•March 27, 2007 • 6 CommentsMy personal favorite of the three. Somehow, I wish the different color hues of this leaf could be more vivid.
Another variation of winter frost on a leaf. Is the upper part of the leaf over-exposed?
Frost on leaves and grass blades. Again, perhaps the leaves could do with a little more vivid colors.
All photos taken using macro and auto modes, hand-held. CRITIQUE and TIPS welcome. Thank you!
